Civitavecchia + acceptance
Hello my friend!
Civitavecchia is the quaint, quiet, sea-side Italian town that hosts the port for ships cruising the Medetteranian. A very common mode of transportation between Rome and this port is the train.
In this drop, we'll visit train from the Roman point of view!

Civitavecchia
Civitavecchia is a major sea port on the Tyrrhenian Sea, 60 kilometesr (37 miles) west-northwest of Rome. Some of its original features are the Roman Dock and the 16th-century Michelangelo Fort.
For travelers, its main feature is it's cruise ship access.
For locals, its main features are the beach and the ferry, for sea connection from central Italy to Sardinia, Sicily, Tunis and Barcelona!
While on the train, we had a lovely chat with a local woman and learned Civitavecchia is a go-to weekend beach destination! Which explains why the train was so packed that Sunday morning!
If you are taking a cruise ship out of Civitavecchia and want to spend a few days in Italy in a quaint sea-side town, Civitavecchia is perfect!

I really cannot imagine being a local and needing to take the train that runs from Rome to Civitavecchia on a weekend!
Have you seen in movies where a full train pulls up to the stop and enough people to fill the train car push and shove there way onto the train? It seems crazy right? Well, it may be crazy AND also real!
Imagine this ... you live in the Rome area, and take the train that runs to Civitavecchia. You travel alone, with friends, with your bike, with your family... looking forward to a nice seat and a stress-free ride.
Now reality ... tens or hundreds of vacationers, each with 2-3 pieces of luggage, pile onto that train with you to catch their cruise... week, after week, after week ... the same train you need to take!
A woman came on with her bike, and could not put it in the designated bike area because it was piled full with luggage. Three young girls came on, and had to stand on the stairs because there were no seats for them, and that didn't pause them for one minute from having a non-stop conversation. The train ticket taker couldn't even pass from our train car to the next because the bike was now blocking the passageway. The ticket taker chatted with the bike's owner and when the next stop was coming up, she asked us to move over to allow the bike and it's owner to disembark.
As I watched this all happening, I noticed something remarkable. These locals didn't even seem to notice us! At the very least, they didn't seem to mind that we were there.
And that's when it hit me!
Instead of being annoyed or rude or ruining their own day by allowing the situation to put them into a bad mood ... they all had a level of acceptance for the situation! The one train needed to transport both travelers and locals along the same route, and they were OK with it! As I'd mentioned, we even had a lovely chat with one of the local ladies on the train with us!
Accepting what is may not be easy at times, but it sure can make your day, and subsequently your life, so much less stressful and so much more enjoyable!
How would being a little more accepting change that one situation in your life that is problematic right now?
Where can you allow even 5% more acceptance, to enhance your own experience?
Are you willing to give it a try and see how it turns out for you?
You've got nothing to lose!
